Dispute Over NDC Ticket in Anambra's Anaocha 1 Constituency

In Anambra State, a dispute has arisen within the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) regarding the party's ticket for the Anaocha 1 Constituency in the upcoming 2027 elections. Nkechi Ogbuefi, the current Deputy Minority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly, asserts that she is the legitimate candidate after participating in the party's primary elections.

Ogbuefi claims that Azubuike Okoye has falsely presented himself as the NDC candidate, despite not purchasing the necessary forms or participating in the primary elections. She stated that the party's chairman, Chief Ikem Uzoezie, confirmed her nomination, which was also affirmed by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Ogbuefi emphasized that Okoye had previously engaged with another party, APGA, and had no legitimate claim to the NDC ticket. The controversy continues as both candidates maintain their positions regarding the party's nomination.
