Two Kano Lawmakers Resign from ADC, Citing Challenges

On May 2, 2026, two lawmakers from Kano State, Sani Adamu Wakili and Yusuf Umar Datti, officially announced their resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Wakili, who represents Minjibir, Ungogo Federal Constituency, confirmed that he sent his exit letter to the party chairman of Zango Ward in Ungogo Local Government Area.

He stated that the decision took effect immediately and was influenced by difficulties in remaining active within the party due to changes at the national level. Despite leaving the ADC, Wakili emphasized his commitment to continue working for the people he represents and to focus on public service.

Similarly, Datti, who represents Kura, Madobi, Garun Malam Federal Constituency, addressed his resignation to the party chairman of Tanawa Ward in Kura Local Government Area, citing the same reasons for his departure. Both lawmakers expressed their intention to maintain their duties and serve the interests of their constituents regardless of their political affiliations.
