Tyson Fury Advocates Cardiff for Joshua Fight Venue

Tyson Fury has expressed his support for Cardiff to host his anticipated heavyweight fight against Anthony Joshua, referring to it as a potential homecoming. The bout is tentatively scheduled for Friday, December 11, at the Principality Stadium, which has emerged as the leading venue over options in New York and the Middle East.

Negotiations are ongoing between both fighters' camps and broadcaster Netflix, with an announcement expected soon. Fury shared his preference on Instagram, highlighting his Welsh heritage.

Joshua's contract stipulates that the fight must occur in the United Kingdom, eliminating Madison Square Garden and Middle Eastern venues. Wembley Stadium is also less favorable due to its lack of a roof.

The Principality Stadium previously hosted Joshua's victory over Carlos Takam in 2017, attended by 78,000 fans. Organizers face logistical challenges, including limited hotel availability and the stadium's 1am curfew, which may conflict with Netflix's desired start time for American audiences.
