Nigeria U-17 Women’s Team Advances with 5-3 Win Over Benin

Akeem Busari, the head coach of Nigeria's U-17 Women's National Team, expressed his satisfaction following the team's 5-3 victory against Benin in the second leg of the final round of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup qualifiers, held at Stade de Kegu in Lome. This win allowed Nigeria to secure an 8-5 aggregate victory, having previously won the first leg 3-2 at home.

Busari acknowledged the challenges posed by the Young Amazons, describing them as a difficult opponent. He noted that the first leg was not an easy match, emphasizing the character his team displayed to overcome the challenges.

Busari also mentioned that the game required his team to capitalize on their strengths and adapt their marking strategy, moving from man-marking to zonal marking to effectively manage the contest.
