UAE Sets New Family Sponsorship Salary Requirements

The General Directorate for Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFAD) in Dubai has announced new conditions for foreigners seeking to sponsor family members for residency in the United Arab Emirates. Eligible sponsors include UAE citizens, UAE residents, and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens.

To qualify, a resident's monthly salary must be at least AED 3,000 (approximately ₦1.35 million) if housing is provided by an employer, or AED 4,000 (approximately ₦1.8 million) if the resident pays for their own accommodation. For partners who are not salaried employees, their partnership must be valued at a minimum of AED 48,000 (approximately ₦21.6 million).

UAE citizens sponsoring a foreign wife must submit a salary certificate or a court-verified document confirming unemployment. Additionally, the GDRFAD stipulates that resident parents can only sponsor male children up to the age of 25, with no exceptions beyond this age limit.
