ADNOC Vessel Attacked in Hormuz Strait Amid Tensions

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) reported that one of its vessels was attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on the evening of August 14, with no injuries recorded. This incident is part of a series of attacks on ADNOC vessels, which the UAE has attributed to Iran.

UAE presidential adviser Anwar Gargash emphasized the country's commitment to defending its rights to freedom of navigation and maritime security. He stated that the UAE would continue to pursue a balanced policy based on deterrence, diplomacy, and adherence to international law.

The UAE foreign ministry condemned the attack as a "hostile Iranian attack" and noted that no injuries had been reported from previous incidents involving ADNOC tankers. The ongoing attacks have escalated tensions in the region, leading to the collapse of a ceasefire between the United States and Iran and complicating future negotiations regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
