Osimhen Faces Suspension Risk Ahead of Liverpool Clash

Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian striker for Galatasaray, is at risk of missing the upcoming UEFA Champions League match against Liverpool at Anfield due to the accumulation of yellow cards. Osimhen has already received two yellow cards this season, and UEFA regulations stipulate that a player will be suspended after receiving three yellow cards during the league phase.

He was booked during the first leg match at Ram Park. Galatasaray's coach, Okan Buruk, has described the current yellow card system as outdated and has urged UEFA to reconsider it, especially given the expanded Champions League format, which includes eight league phase matches plus knockout rounds, increasing the risk of suspensions for players.

Buruk emphasized the importance of managing the squad carefully to avoid unnecessary bookings and maintain a competitive lineup against Liverpool. Additionally, seven other Galatasaray players are also on the brink of suspension.
