UITH Doctors Strike After Colleague Assault in Kwara

Doctors at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) in Kwara State suspended services in response to the physical assault of a colleague. The incident involved an unidentified individual attacking a doctor during a visit to the health facility on Thursday.

This assault occurred after a woman lost her child, leading to a loss of control and the subsequent attack on the medical staff. Reports indicate that patients were left waiting for hours without receiving medical attention due to the strike.

Dr. E. Oladepo, a spokesman for the protesting doctors, expressed disappointment over the incident, emphasizing that it was the third assault on medical personnel at the hospital.

The doctors are demanding justice and calling for restraint, highlighting the need for a safe working environment to provide quality healthcare. The strike has left many patients without urgent medical attention, and the doctors hope to resume work by Monday.
