The UK government currently provides more than 25 distinct visa and immigration routes for foreign nationals, including Nigerians, tailored to various travel purposes and individual circumstances. The appropriate visa route depends on factors such as the intended length of stay and the purpose of the visit.

Key visa options include the Standard Visitor visa for tourism and short-term business, the Student visa for those aged 16 and above with an offer from a licensed institution, and the Skilled Worker visa requiring a confirmed job offer from a Home Office-approved employer. The Health and Care Worker visa is particularly popular among Nigerians entering the UK workforce.

Additional routes cater to elite sportspeople, ministers of religion, and temporary workers. Family visas are available for those joining qualifying relatives in the UK, while the Graduate visa allows international graduates to remain in the UK without a job offer.

Various schemes also exist for specific groups, including Ukrainian nationals.
