UK Sets Age Limits for Child Student Visa Applications

The UK government has published official guidance regarding the age requirements for children applying for a Child Student visa to study at independent schools in the United Kingdom. Applicants must be aged between 4 and 17 years old; those who are 18 or older must apply for a standard Student visa.

The minimum age for application is 4 years, while the maximum is 17. A child who turns 18 before submitting their application does not meet the eligibility criteria.

The duration of stay granted also depends on the applicant's age at the time of application: children under 16 may receive a stay covering their full course length, up to six years, plus an additional four months, while those aged 16 or 17 are capped at three years, plus four months. It is crucial for families to consider the timing of their applications, as the child must be within the specified age range at the time of application.

Parental or guardian consent is required for all applicants.
