Ukraine Plans October Trilateral Talks with Russia, US

Kyrylo Budanov, the Ukrainian Presidential Chief of Staff, announced that Ukraine is preparing for trilateral talks with Russia and the United States, set to resume in October. Budanov made this statement while addressing reporters at a conference in Kyiv.

His announcement came shortly after U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner conducted talks in Moscow and Kyiv, marking their first visits to these capitals in several months. Following these discussions, Witkoff reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy indicated the possibility of hosting the next trilateral meeting in Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, or other countries.

The last trilateral meeting occurred in Geneva in February, but subsequent talks stalled as the U.S. shifted its focus to the conflict with Iran. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that while Moscow does not rule out resuming peace talks, it is premature to determine the timing or location of such discussions.
