UN Disavows Adeyemi's Alleged Youth Office Appointment

The United Nations Youth Office issued a letter on July 27, 2026, with reference number UNYO-2026-0017, clarifying that Adeyemi was never authorized to represent the office or the United Nations in any capacity. This letter was a response to Nigeria’s Permanent Mission to the UN, which had sought clarification on Adeyemi’s purported appointment and associated documents.

The UN Youth Office stated that Adeyemi “holds no appointment, employment, or affiliation of any kind with the Office.” Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, disclosed this information, asserting that the UN's communication resolved questions surrounding Adeyemi’s alleged appointment and cleared Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, of allegations of forgery related to the documents. Ibrahim urged the media and public to rely on official communications from the UN to avoid misinformation and reputational damage.
