Senator Kawu Sumaila Raises Concerns Over Unemployment and Poverty in LGAs

Senator Suleiman Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila has highlighted the persistent challenges of unemployment and poverty despite substantial allocations to Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Nigeria. Senator Sumaila expressed concern over the high levels of poverty and youth unemployment at the grassroots level, despite significant funds allocated to LGAs across the country.

He noted that Kano State alone received billions in the first half of 2025, yet there has been little improvement in living conditions. The senator emphasized the need for greater autonomy for LGAs to effectively manage resources and address pressing issues such as youth unemployment, healthcare, and education, which continue to plague many communities.
