FCT Minister Champions Abuja as Smart City Hub at UNGA 2025

Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, the FCT Minister, advocated for Abuja to become a smart city innovation hub during the 8th edition of Business Week 2025 at the UNGA.

She urged the US to deepen collaboration in smart city development, housing, and ICT sectors to drive sustainable urban growth in Africa. Mahmoud highlighted Abuja's potential as a strategic investment location with modern infrastructure and a youthful population.

Emphasizing Nigeria's ambition to develop sustainable smart cities, she pointed out major projects like the Centenary City and World Trade Centre in Abuja. The Minister stressed the vital role of Nigerian women and youth in driving economic growth, calling for partnerships to deploy ICT solutions, smart grids, and innovative housing models in Abuja.
