University of Abuja Denies Diverting Student Loans, Emphasizes Transparency

The University of Abuja has refuted claims of diverting student loans, stating that the funds were disbursed to eligible students. The university received a total of 256,142,500 naira from the Nigerian Education Trust Fund on January 29, 2026, benefiting 2,245 students.

Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, the Vice-Chancellor, emphasized the transparent and accountable handling of the funds, debunking allegations of mismanagement. The university assured that unclaimed funds would be released promptly upon submission of necessary applications.
