UniAbuja Expels 28 Students, Withdraws 15 Certificates

The University of Abuja expelled 28 students and withdrew certificates from 15 graduates for misconduct, as announced in a statement signed by Dr. Habib Yakoob, the acting director of the university.

This decision was reached during the 191st regular Senate meeting held on January 28, 2026. The expelled students were found guilty of serious disciplinary violations, including threats to life, assault, examination malpractice, conspiracy, burglary, theft, cult-related activities, possession of hard drugs, and falsification of O-level results uploaded to the university portal.

The Senate also approved the withdrawal of certificates from 15 former students who failed to honor invitations from the disciplinary committee despite multiple notices. Additionally, nine students were exonerated after investigations, while 33 others received warnings for various infractions.

The Vice Chancellor and Senate Chairman, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, emphasized the university's commitment to maintaining a secure and disciplined academic environment.
