UNICEF Trains Gombe MDAs on Social Protection Budgeting

UNICEF partnered with the Gombe State Government to strengthen public financial management and build a social protection budget tagging system. The initiative, led by UNICEF's social protection specialist, Dr.

Yusuf Auta, aims to improve government investment in social protection by enabling policymakers and stakeholders to monitor spending effectively. The training, which took place over three days, emphasized the importance of aligning development priorities and ensuring that social protection programs play a vital role in breaking the cycle of poverty and improving access to essential services such as healthcare, education, water, sanitation, hygiene, and nutrition.

Jalo Ibrahim Ali, the permanent secretary of Gombe State's Ministry of Finance, oversaw the training, which is part of efforts to enhance institutional capacity in sectors like education, health, and social protection. UNICEF remains committed to supporting Gombe State in making informed, evidence-based investments to improve the well-being of its people.
