UNICEF Praises Bauchi State's Maternal Healthcare Efforts

UNICEF, represented by Chief Field Officer Dr. Nuzhat Raffiqu, commended the partnership between the Federal Government and the Bauchi State Government for significantly improving maternal and child healthcare. This commendation was made during the flag-off of the distribution of comprehensive emergency obstetric and newborn care (CEMONC) equipment, coordinated by the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Moham Ali Pate, and supported by Bauchi State Governor Sen. Bala Abdulkadir.

Dr. Raffiqu highlighted the importance of quality care and services at primary and secondary healthcare levels in saving the lives of mothers and newborns. She noted that UNICEF's contribution, supported by Global Affairs Canada, would ensure that the equipment reaches every local government area in Bauchi State.

Additionally, almost 300 primary healthcare workers and 40 secondary level health providers will be trained in maternal and newborn care. Dr. Raffiqu concluded by stating that every mother and child has the right to enjoy a safe moment of birth and to raise healthy children.
