Nigeria Energy Summit 2026: Unlocking Gas Potential

The Nigeria International Energy Summit 2026, held in Abuja, centered on the theme of energy as a catalyst for peace, prosperity, and security. President Bola Tinubu opened the summit, highlighting energy's role in stabilizing economies and ensuring societal welfare.

The event featured discussions on local content, regulatory reforms, and the need for Nigeria to enhance its energy system for reliable and sustainable growth. Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized energy as a national security catalyst.

The summit was sponsored by Nigeria LNG Limited and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, among others. Minister of Petroleum Resources Ekperikpo Ekpo discussed the importance of natural gas in transitioning to a lower carbon system and the need for robust indigenous capacity in the gas industry.

The summit aimed to unlock $10 billion in capital inflow and emphasized the importance of compliance with local content requirements to enhance competitiveness among indigenous gas companies.
