UNODC Applauds NDLEA's Drug Trafficking Crackdown Efforts

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) commended the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for its unprecedented achievements in drug trafficking enforcement, including a significant number of arrests, seizures, and convictions over the past five years. This recognition was made during a ceremony held on April 27, 2023, in Abuja, where Cheikh Ousman, the UNODC representative for Nigeria, stated that Nigeria is no longer a permissive ground for drug cartels.

The event also marked the handover of modern technological equipment for NDLEA's audiovisual interview room, funded by the US Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (US INL). Brig Gen Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd), the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, expressed gratitude for the support from the US INL and UNODC, emphasizing the significance of this donation in enhancing the agency's capabilities nationwide.
