Former Nigerian Minister Femi Fani-Kayode refutes claims that US airstrikes in Sokoto were based on intelligence from a civilian source in Onitsha, stating it was misinformation aimed at undermining Nigerian and US intelligence systems. The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through Yusuf Tuggar, clarified that the airstrikes were conducted in collaboration with Nigerian security agencies.

Fani-Kayode criticized the reliance on private individuals for military actions and emphasized the importance of official intelligence coordination. He urged against spreading false narratives that could harm diplomatic relations.
