U.S.-Based Lawyer Recounts Final Efforts to Assist Late Nollywood Icon Chief Kanran

U.S.-based lawyer, Chief Owolabi Salis, shared his final interactions with late Nollywood icon Chief Kanran before his recent passing. Salis recounted how he had been in contact with Kanran shortly before his death, with the actor expressing excitement for his upcoming 70th birthday.

However, tragedy struck when Kanran revealed he was battling severe appendicitis and urgently needed surgery. Salis immediately sent financial support to cover the outstanding balance.

Despite his efforts, Kanran passed away three days later. Salis also contributed financially towards Kanran's burial on August 18.

Salis described the loss as shocking and devastating, praising Kanran's iconic performances and adaptability on stage. He highlighted the late actor's struggles in his final years, urging the Nigerian film industry to honor Kanran's legacy and create a stronger support system for actors to prevent similar neglect in the future.
