US Congressman Commends Nigeria-US Security Cooperation to Protect Religious Freedom

US Congressman Riley Moore has praised the collaborative efforts between the Nigerian and US governments to enhance security cooperation and safeguard religious freedom. The establishment of the US-Nigeria Work Group signifies a significant step towards addressing Nigeria's security challenges, especially in combating terrorism and protecting Christians from persecution.

The joint initiative aims to promote shared values of religious freedom and counter violent extremism, particularly in northern Nigeria and the Middle Belt region. The Nigerian government, represented by National Security Adviser Moham Idri, has engaged in sustained efforts to deepen bilateral security relations with the US, as demonstrated by high-level engagements since November 2025.

Both countries are committed to ensuring freedom of worship and protecting civilians, reflecting a mature strategic relationship based on trust and shared responsibilities.
