UAE Grounds Iranian Airlines Following US Sanctions

Iranian airlines have faced significant restrictions in Gulf aviation markets after the expiration of a United States deadline on September 23, which mandated global companies to stop business with Iranian carriers. Following this directive, the United Arab Emirates General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announced on September 24 the suspension of all flights operated by Iranian airlines to and from the UAE, a major aviation hub.

This suspension was confirmed by the disappearance of Iranian airline flight schedules at Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports. Additionally, Iranian carriers have been barred from operating in Oman, marking a clear consequence of the US sanctions strategy.

The GCAA stated it would keep the public informed regarding the status of air traffic between the UAE and Iran. The sanctions aim to increase the economic pressure on Iran's civilian aviation network amid ongoing US-Iran tensions, with President Donald Trump describing the campaign as “economic D-Day.”.
