US Embassy Announces Visa Restrictions on Nigeria and 18 Other Countries

The US Embassy in Nigeria has issued an update on visa restrictions affecting 19 countries, including Nigeria, starting January 1, 2026. The restrictions, in line with Presidential Proclamation 10998, partially suspend the issuance of B1/B2 visitor visas and F/M/J student exchange visitor visas.

However, certain exemptions apply, such as for immigrants facing persecution, dual nationals, and special immigrant visa holders. The restrictions aim to enhance the security of the United States.

Nigeria and other listed countries are affected by this policy change.
