US Embassy Issues Terror Threat Alert for Nigeria

On Monday, the US Embassy in Nigeria issued a security notice warning of a possible terrorist threat against US facilities and US-affiliated schools in the country. The alert is intended to inform American citizens residing in Nigeria about the potential risks they may face.

The embassy recommends that US citizens exercise increased vigilance when visiting American diplomatic missions and affiliated institutions. Specific precautions include being aware of their surroundings, keeping a low profile, reviewing personal security plans, maintaining charged cell phones for emergencies, staying alert in public places, avoiding crowds and demonstrations, and familiarizing themselves with emergency exits when entering buildings.

The warning comes amid heightened global tensions following recent military confrontations involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, as well as protests in Lagos by members of the Islamic Movement condemning reported attacks involving Iranian leadership.
