UN Warns U.S. and Israel Against Attacking Iran's Infrastructure

António Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, issued a critical warning on Monday, urging the United States and Israel to refrain from attacking Iran's civilian infrastructure, specifically its power plants. Guterres highlighted that any military strike on civilian infrastructure would violate international law and could lead to excessive civilian harm, as outlined in international humanitarian law.

His spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, stated that it is imperative for all parties to cease hostilities and pursue peaceful resolutions to international disputes. This warning follows President Donald Trump's threats to destroy Iran's power plants if they do not comply with his latest ultimatum.

Trump indicated that the U.S. could carry out complete demolition within a four-hour deadline, coinciding with the expiration of a critical ultimatum regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil shipments.
