Usyk Vacates WBO Heavyweight Title, Wardley Set for Championship Elevation

Oleksandr Usyk has decided to vacate his WBO heavyweight title, choosing not to defend it against mandatory challenger Fabio Wardley. Usyk, who retains the WBA, WBC, and IBF heavyweight titles, vacated the WBO belt due to rematch obligations following his victory over Tyson Fury.

The WBO president, Gustavo Olivieri, praised Usyk's career and left the door open for Wardley to become the new WBO heavyweight champion. Wardley, a 30-year-old British boxer, is expected to be named the new champion following Usyk's decision.

Joseph Parker, the interim champion, is in line for a potential title shot.
