Oleksandr Usyk Vacates WBO Heavyweight Title, Fabio Wardley in Line for Championship

Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk has decided to vacate his WBO Heavyweight Title after declining a mandatory fight against Fabio Wardley. This move allows Wardley, the interim belt holder, to potentially become a world champion for the first time.

Usyk, who previously held multiple heavyweight titles, including the IBF belt, made this decision to step aside from the obligation. The World Boxing Organization (WBO) confirmed receiving formal communication from Usyk's camp regarding his decision.

WBO President Gustavo Olivieri expressed respect for Usyk's legacy in the sport.
