Veteran Juju musician Ahuja Bello is dead

Renowned Juju music legend Ahuja Bello has passed away at the age of 83, confirmed by his son Adetunji Bello. Born Ismaila Dele Bello in 1942 in Oyo State, Bello made a name for himself as a celebrated Juju singer, guitarist, and band leader in the 1970s and 1980s.

Despite initially working as an electronic technician, Bello founded the Ahuja Bello Golden Eagles Band, which became a dominant force in the Juju music scene. Known for his vibrant stage presence and evergreen hits like "Awa ti Danfo Ariya ti de," Bello's influence extended globally, with a trip to London leading to collaborations with artists like Bob Marley.

Though his career was tragically cut short by an accident in 1982, Ahuja Bello's legacy remains secure in Nigeria's musical history.
