Shettima Represents Tinubu at 39th AU Summit in Ethiopia

Vice-President Kashim Shettima arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly scheduled for February 14-15. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, with Kimiebi Ebienfa serving as the spokesperson for the Vice President.

Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, Shettima was welcomed by Ethiopian Minister of Innovation and Technology, Dr. Belet Mola, and Ambassador Berhanu Tsegay, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs. Tuggar highlighted Nigeria's significant diplomatic achievements, consolidating its leadership role in advancing Africa's economic integration, peace, security, and democratic governance.

The recent 48th session of the Executive Council of the African Union resulted in an agreement granting Nigeria a permanent seat on the board of the African Central Bank, marking a landmark development in Nigeria's strategic role in shaping Africa's financial architecture. The session also successfully elected candidates from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to the Peace and Security Council, reflecting strong unity among member states.
