Shettima Represents Nigeria at 39th AU Summit in Ethiopia

Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, scheduled for February 14-15, 2026. The summit's theme is centered on ensuring sustainable water availability and safe sanitation systems to achieve the goals outlined in Agenda 2063.

Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, Shettima was received by Ethiopia's Minister of Innovation and Technology, Dr. Belet Mola, and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Amb.

Yusuf Tuggar, along with senior officials from the Nigerian Embassy in Addis Ababa, were also present. Tuggar briefed Shettima on the itinerary and plans for engagement at the summit.

He highlighted Nigeria's significant achievements in the recently concluded 48th session of the Executive Council of the AU, reinforcing Nigeria's leadership role in advancing Africa's economic integration and security.
