EFCC Dismisses 40 Staff for Corruption Under Olukoyede

Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), disclosed that more than 40 staff members have been dismissed for corruption and financial malpractice during his tenure. In a video posted on his verified X handle, Olukoyede highlighted the necessity for staff to declare and register any assets above a certain threshold.

He recounted instances where operatives were found driving luxury vehicles and living in affluent areas without clear evidence of how they acquired such assets. To address these issues, the EFCC implemented a Gift and Hospitality Policy and renamed the Department of Internal Affairs to the Department of Ethics and Integrity, focusing on internal cleansing.

Olukoyede stated that over five of the dismissed staff are currently being prosecuted, with additional case files being prepared. He asserted his commitment to holding his staff accountable, stating, "If I investigate and prosecute people in other MDAs for this, why would I merely dismiss my own?".
