Gumi Claims Government Knows Terrorists' Identities, Locations

In a recent interview with DRTV, Kaduna-based Islamic scholar Abubakar Gumi asserted that the Nigerian government is aware of the identities and locations of terrorists operating within the country. Gumi, who has previously been involved in controversial dialogue efforts with armed groups in Northern Nigeria, emphasized that individuals who interact with terrorists are known to the government.

He stated that negotiations do not occur in isolation but involve police and military security agencies. Gumi explained that during his engagements, he has visited traditional leaders and even traveled into the forests where bandits are believed to operate.

He highlighted that his previous advocacy for negotiation aims to reduce violence and encourage disarmament among these groups. Gumi's remarks come amid ongoing discussions about the security situation in Nigeria, particularly concerning the activities of bandits and terrorists.
