Gumi Links Foreign Intelligence to Nigeria Killings

Sheikh Gumi, a prominent Islamic cleric, has claimed that recent killings across Nigeria are connected to covert foreign intelligence operations working with local collaborators. His comments came in response to a recent attack in Gari Ya Way, Angwan Rukuba, in Plateau State, which reportedly resulted in 20 deaths and several injuries.

Gumi condemned the ongoing violence, emphasizing that it should not be attributed to religion. He noted that the pattern of attacks suggests external influences, citing various security incidents, including a coordinated bomb blast in Maiduguri on March 16, 2026, that killed at least 23 people and injured 100 others.

Gumi urged the federal government to reassess its current security strategies in light of the increasing violence and recommended that authorities adopt new approaches to reduce foreign involvement in Nigeria's security system. He also suggested seeking assistance from friendly superpowers, particularly in satellite intelligence and military equipment, to strengthen local security capabilities.

Gumi concluded by expressing condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
