Mother Criticizes Oyo School for Negligence After Injury

A mother has raised alarms over negligence at an elementary school in Ibadan, Oyo State, after her son suffered a deep head injury that required 10 stitches. The incident occurred when the child fell on school premises, leading to complications including pain and difficulty walking.

The mother expressed frustration over the school's failure to adequately address the incident and provide timely communication. She attempted to access CCTV footage to understand the circumstances but was unsuccessful due to alleged technical issues.

Marcu William, chairman of the Oyo State Rapid Response Team on gender-based violence, visited the school to investigate the incident after seeing social media posts. He noted that the school provided initial financial support for the child's treatment and recommended backup power solutions for future incidents.

The situation escalated due to a breakdown in communication between the school leadership and the mother, who felt ignored. Ongoing dialogue with the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare is planned to resolve the matter.
