Primate Ayodele Calls for Release of Nnamdi Kanu

Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangel Spiritual Church, urged the Nigerian government to release Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, during a video address to his congregation that surfaced online on Saturday. Ayodele argued that the government's decision to continue detaining Kanu raises questions about its sincerity, especially in light of its previous attempts to negotiate the release of Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi.

He emphasized that the treatment of Kanu and Gumi should not differ, warning that public protests could intensify if the government does not address the growing concerns among citizens. Ayodele's statements reflect a broader discontent with the government's handling of Kanu's detention, suggesting that protests could escalate under President Bola Tinubu's administration if the situation remains unresolved.
