Stranded Nigerians Protest Delays in Evacuation Flights

Stranded Nigerians in South Africa staged a protest due to delays in evacuation flights arranged by the Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria. The protestors expressed their frustration over the slow repatriation process, chanting their desire to return to Nigeria.

This demonstration occurred amid ongoing efforts by the Nigerian government to repatriate citizens following renewed anti-immigrant tensions and xenophobic concerns in South Africa. Reports indicate that 258 Nigerians have been successfully evacuated, while 742 registered citizens remain stranded across various provinces, facing hunger and homelessness due to logistical delays in flight arrangements.

The Federal Government is working to expedite the repatriation process as citizens continue to seek assistance to leave South Africa.
