Bishop Kukah Urges Responsible Voting Ahead of 2027 Elections

Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Kukah, has called on Nigerians, particularly the youth, to exercise their voting rights responsibly ahead of the 2027 general elections. He emphasized that citizens should not solely blame the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the government, or security agencies for the nation's political challenges.

Instead, he highlighted the responsibility of voters in making informed choices at the polls. Kukah encouraged voters to utilize the wealth of information available through social media and the internet to research candidates' backgrounds and past achievements before supporting them for positions such as governor or senator.

He stressed that young Nigerians must take the electoral process seriously, as their votes significantly impact their future and wellbeing. Kukah stated, “We can blame INEC, we can blame the government, we can blame security agencies.

But in the final analysis, nobody is holding a gun to your head, asking you to choose this person or the other person.”.
