Vietnam Airlines to Cut Flights Amid Jet Fuel Shortage

Vietnam Airlines announced it will temporarily suspend 23 domestic flights per week starting April 1 due to a jet fuel shortage. This shortage has arisen from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which began three weeks ago and has caused jet fuel prices to soar.

The Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority issued a statement indicating that the conflict has put domestic airlines at risk of fuel shortages, prompting the need for flight cuts while maintaining international routes. Additionally, Vietnam Airlines is working on implementing a fuel surcharge for international routes.

The country has recently sought fuel support from several nations, including Qatar, Kuwait, Algeria, Japan, and has signed a deal with Russia for oil and gas products.
