Violence Displaces 5,000 in Borno, Urgent Aid Needed

A recent surge of violence in Borno State, Nigeria, has displaced over 5,000 individuals, particularly affecting the community in Pulka. The violence, which included a deadly attack on March 3, has left many survivors in dire conditions, with reports of homes and livelihoods destroyed.

Safiya Moham Aga, a displaced resident, described the devastation and lack of shelter, as thousands are forced to sleep in open spaces exposed to harsh conditions. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) confirmed the launch of an emergency response on April 10, targeting urgent needs such as food, clean water, and sanitation services.

So far, 900 families have received essential non-food items, and MSF is delivering approximately 16,000 liters of safe drinking water daily. Despite these efforts, MSF officials warn that the scale of the crisis far exceeds current assistance capabilities, calling for urgent support from humanitarian agencies and international donors to prevent further deterioration of the humanitarian situation.
