Visa Selects 21 African Fintechs for Accelerator Program

On October 7, Visa announced the selection of 21 African fintech companies for its accelerator program, designed to connect founders with financial institutions, technical specialists, and potential investors to facilitate business expansion. This sixth cohort includes companies that finance healthcare providers, process insurance claims, and assist online merchants with payment collection.
Participants hail from nine countries and operate across 24 African markets. During the onboarding event in Accra, founders interacted with organizations such as Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems, GCB Bank, Onafriq, and EY Ghana.
Notably, businesses from Niger, Togo, and Seychelles are participating for the first time. Among the selected companies is Rigo, which offers financial services tailored to Nigerian healthcare businesses, including financing for pharmacies, clinics, and hospitals.
Other participants include Clinify, which streamlines health insurance payment processes, and several others listed under program partner Plug and Play.
