WAEC Told to Remark WASSCE 2025, "Abnormal Conditions"

The Academic Excellence Initiative (AEI) has called on the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to remark the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) due to "abnormal conditions" that may have affected student performance. AEI stated that the earlier released results may not accurately reflect the students' abilities and urged WAEC to reassess the examination for fairness and accuracy.

They also suggested providing students with the opportunity to retake the exam under better conditions or adjusting the grading to account for the challenging circumstances. WAEC acknowledged an error in the previously released results and temporarily suspended result access to issue corrected figures.

The council apologized for the confusion and assured the public that measures would be put in place to prevent a recurrence. This comes after the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) faced criticism for technical glitches affecting candidate results in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
