Super Falcons Face Zambia in WAFCON Survival Match

The Super Falcons of Nigeria, the defending champions, are set to face Zambia in a critical Group C match of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat. Nigeria is under pressure following a loss to Malawi, while Zambia has emerged as a strong contender after a decisive 6-0 victory over Egypt.

Nigeria must secure a positive result to enhance their chances of advancing to the knockout stage, whereas Zambia can qualify with a win if Malawi does not lose to Egypt. Historically, Nigeria has performed well against Zambia, winning three of their previous four encounters and outscoring them 15-1.

However, a defeat would mark Nigeria's first back-to-back losses in WAFCON group stages and could lead to them being the first defending champions to exit in the group phase. Notably, Nigeria's loss to Malawi ended their record of never conceding three goals in a WAFCON match.
