Super Falcons' Nnadozie Accepts Responsibility After Loss

Chiamaka Nnadozie, the 24-year-old goalkeeper for the Super Falcons, acknowledged her team's disappointing 3-2 loss to Malawi in their opening match of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). In a post on her X handle, Nnadozie stated that the defeat was painful, but the team fought hard.

She emphasized that the players take full responsibility for their performance against Malawi, who are tournament debutants and managed to secure one of the biggest upsets in WAFCON history. Malawi's Temwa Chawinga scored two goals, and captain Tabitha Chawinga added another.

Nigeria's Rasheedat Ajibade converted a stoppage-time penalty, and substitute Uchenna Kanu scored another goal deep into added time, but it was insufficient to secure a point. Following this loss, Nigeria sits third in Group C, behind Zambia and Malawi.

The Super Falcons will face Zambia in a crucial match on Saturday and conclude the group stage against Egypt on Wednesday as they aim to defend their title.
