Okoronkwo Promises Super Falcons Will Bounce Back vs Zambia

Esther Okoronkwo, a forward for Nigeria's Super Falcons, has expressed confidence that the team will deliver a better performance in their upcoming match against Zambia in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Following a surprising 3-2 defeat to Malawi, where the defending champions struggled despite head coach Justine Madugu fielding a strong lineup, Okoronkwo acknowledged the team's lack of intensity.

The match, held in Rabat, saw Malawi's Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga exploit gaps in Nigeria's defense, leading to the defeat. Although Okoronkwo and Rasheedat Ajibade scored late goals, they were not enough to secure a positive result.

Okoronkwo reflected on the need for improvement and mentioned a controversial penalty appeal during the match, which she chose not to dwell on. With Zambia having won their previous match against Egypt 6-0, Nigeria must secure a victory to maintain their chances of advancing in the tournament.
