Golden Eaglets Unveil Squad for WAFU-B U17 Championship
The Nigeria Football Federation has revealed the 25-player squad selected by head coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere for the WAFU-B U17 Championship, which begins on October 10. The squad was chosen after rigorous camping in Abuja and includes players from various Nigeria-based academies.
The team comprises three goalkeepers, eight defenders, and seven midfielders and strikers, with notable inclusion of highly rated goalkeeper Mutiu Adenle. Nigeria is placed in Group B alongside Ivory Coast and Niger, with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals.
This tournament also serves as qualifiers for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations, where the two finalists will secure spots for the U17 AFCON scheduled to be held in Morocco. Nigeria has not participated in the last two U17 AFCON tournaments and risks missing a third consecutive tournament if they fail to reach the final.
