“Wait till 2035,” Ohanaeze Tells Igbo Candidates, Backs Tinubu’s Re-Election

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo organization, has advised Igbo candidates to wait until 2035 to contest for the presidency, backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027. The group stated that the possibility of the Southeast producing a president could be achieved by 2035.

The decision was made at a crucial meeting with Southeast political leaders. Ohanaeze Ndigbo also expressed support for Tinubu in 2027, projecting that approximately 95% of Igbo votes would rally behind his cause.

Additionally, the faction of the Labour Party has abandoned plans to contest in the 2027 presidential election, instead asking Peter Obi to support Tinubu's bid. The New Democratic Frontiers (NDF) spokesperson also mentioned the region's leadership in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the intensifying move to unseat President Tinubu in 2027.
