INYC Opposes Land Allocation to Ijaw in Warri South LGA

The Itsekiri Nation Youth Council (INYC) has publicly declared its intention to resist any attempts to allocate Itsekiri land to the Ijaw community in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State. The council insists that the area is the ancestral homeland of the Itsekiri people.

A statement signed by INYC President Afejuku emphasized that the Itsekiri youth are prepared to defend their heritage and territorial integrity against what they describe as attempts to alter the historical legal status of the community within Warri South. The council highlighted that the Supreme Court has already settled issues related to ownership of the land in question, asserting that there is no Ijaw community within the local government area.

Furthermore, the INYC stated that they are not part of ongoing negotiations involving government agencies and political leaders concerning ward delineation arrangements in Warri South LGA, and they urged relevant authorities to ensure that decisions regarding electoral boundaries are guided by historical facts and judicial pronouncements.
