Ijaw, Urhobo Groups Praise INEC for Warri Delineation

The Ijaw and Urhobo ethnic groups have expressed their commendation to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the release of the final delineation report for the Warri Federal Constituency, which was mandated by a Supreme Court order. This report is crucial for the upcoming 2027 general elections, as it outlines the electoral wards and polling units in the Warri area, which includes Warri North, Warri South, and Warri South West local government areas.

The groups held a press briefing on Friday in Warri, describing the release as a significant step towards restoring political inclusivity and stability in the region. They had previously demanded the report's release on May 4, 2026, in compliance with the Supreme Court judgment delivered on December 2, 2022.

The Ijaw and Urhobo leaders also praised INEC for creating additional state house assembly constituencies and urged political parties to commence primaries for the new constituencies. They emphasized the need for fair political participation and pledged to fully engage in the electoral process.
